What Minecraft version does RavenMC support?

RavenMC currently supports Minecraft Java Edition version 1.20 and above. We recommend using the latest version for the best experience, but backward compatibility is maintained for most features.

Please note that if you're using an older version, some of our custom features might not display or function correctly. We try to keep up with the latest stable Minecraft releases to provide the best experience.

Is RavenMC free to play?

Yes, RavenMC is completely free to play! All players have access to the core gameplay features, including our unique raven leveling system, custom worlds, and community events.

We do offer optional donations for players who wish to support the server, and donors receive cosmetic perks as a thank you, but these do not provide any gameplay advantages. We maintain a strict "no pay-to-win" policy.

What mods or texture packs are allowed on RavenMC?

We allow client-side mods that don't provide unfair advantages. The following are examples of allowed and disallowed mods:

Allowed:

  • OptiFine
  • Minimap mods (without entity radar or cave mapping features)
  • Cosmetic mods (shaders, better animations, etc.)
  • Performance improvement mods
  • Replay mod
  • Any texture pack or resource pack

Disallowed:

  • X-ray mods or texture packs
  • Auto-click/macro mods
  • Flight or movement hacks
  • Combat assistance mods (Kill Aura, Aim Bot, etc.)
  • Any mod that reveals hidden information

If you're unsure about a specific mod, please ask a staff member before using it on our server.

Raven Leveling System

What is the Raven Leveling System?

The Raven Leveling System is our unique progression feature that allows players to obtain and evolve a magical raven companion. Your raven starts as a novice and can evolve through five distinct tiers, each with new abilities and perks.

As you complete activities in the game, you'll earn Raven XP that gradually increases your level. At certain milestones, you can evolve your raven to the next tier, unlocking new capabilities.

The five tiers of raven evolution are:

  1. Novice Raven: Levels 1-10
  2. Adept Raven: Levels 11-25
  3. Expert Raven: Levels 26-50
  4. Master Raven: Levels 51-75
  5. Legendary Raven: Levels 76-100

For a detailed explanation of all raven abilities and evolution requirements, check out our Leveling System page.

How do I get my first raven companion?

When you first join the server, you'll receive a Raven Egg as part of the new player welcome package. Right-click with the egg to hatch your companion and begin your journey.

If you've lost your egg or didn't receive one (which can happen rarely due to technical issues), you can get a replacement by visiting the Raven Master NPC in the main spawn area or by using the command /raven claim.

What are the fastest ways to earn Raven XP?

There are many ways to earn Raven XP on our server, but some methods are more efficient than others:

  • Daily Quests: Complete daily quests from the Raven Master for guaranteed XP rewards (50-500 XP per quest)
  • Server Events: Participate in scheduled events for large XP rewards (100-1000 XP per event)
  • Boss Battles: Defeat special bosses for substantial XP rewards (500+ XP)
  • Mining Rare Ores: Mine rarer ores like diamond and ancient debris (10-20 XP per ore)
  • Building: Place blocks in creative and unique structures (1-5 XP per block, with bonuses for artistic builds)

We also have double XP weekends every month, so watch for announcements about these special events!

How do I check my current Raven level and XP?

You can check your current Raven level, XP, and abilities using the following commands:

  • /raven info - Displays your current raven level, XP, and tier
  • /raven abilities - Shows all abilities your raven currently has
  • /raven next - Shows requirements for the next evolution tier

You can also see your XP progress on the server scoreboard, which appears on the right side of your screen by default.

Gameplay

How do I protect my builds from griefing?

We use a land claiming system to protect players' builds. To claim land:

  1. Hold a golden shovel in your hand (you can get one from the shop or craft it)
  2. Right-click on one corner of the area you want to protect
  3. Right-click on the opposite corner to complete the claim

You start with 2,000 claim blocks as a new player and earn more as you play. You can see how many claim blocks you have by using /claim blocks.

To add trusted players to your claim (allowing them to build within it), use /trust [playername] while standing in your claim. For more claim commands, use /claim help.

What custom worlds are available on RavenMC?

RavenMC features several custom worlds that you can explore:

  • Main World: Our primary survival world with custom terrain and structures
  • Resource World: A world that resets monthly, perfect for gathering resources without affecting the main world
  • Crystal Forest: A unique biome with purple trees and floating crystals
  • Void Realms: An end-game area with challenging dungeons and valuable loot
  • Creative World: A creative mode world for testing builds
  • PvP Arena: Dedicated combat areas for player versus player battles

You can travel between worlds using command portals found in the main spawn area or by using commands like /warp resource, /warp crystal, etc.

Is PvP enabled on the server?

PvP (Player versus Player combat) is disabled in most areas of the server to prevent unwanted conflicts. However, PvP is enabled in the following locations:

  • The PvP Arena
  • The Wilderness zones
  • During specific PvP events

Players can also enable PvP in their own claimed areas using /claim pvp if they want to host private combat events or arenas.

Note that even in PvP-enabled areas, we have strict rules against harassment, spawn killing, and combat logging. Please review our Server Rules for complete details.

How does the economy system work?

RavenMC uses a currency called "Raven Tokens" for our economy. You can earn tokens through:

  • Selling items to the server shop
  • Trading with other players
  • Completing quests and challenges
  • Participating in server events

You can use tokens to purchase items from the server shop, buy special abilities, claim more land, and trade with other players.

Useful economy commands include:

  • /balance - Check your current token balance
  • /pay [player] [amount] - Send tokens to another player
  • /shop - Open the server shop menu
  • /sell - Sell items in your hand to the server

Technical Help

I'm experiencing lag or connection issues. What can I do?

If you're experiencing lag or connection issues, try these solutions:

  1. Check your internet connection: Run a speed test to ensure your connection is stable
  2. Restart your game and router: Sometimes a simple restart resolves connection issues
  3. Adjust video settings: Lower your render distance and graphics settings
  4. Close background applications: Other programs might be using your bandwidth or system resources
  5. Use a wired connection: If possible, connect via Ethernet instead of Wi-Fi
  6. Install OptiFine: This mod can significantly improve performance

If you're still experiencing issues after trying these steps, please report it to our staff using /report lag in-game or by opening a ticket on our Discord server with your location, internet provider, and a detailed description of the problem.

The server says "Outdated server" or "Outdated client" when I try to join.

This error occurs when there's a version mismatch between your Minecraft client and our server. RavenMC currently supports Minecraft Java Edition version 1.20 and above.

To fix this issue:

  1. Open your Minecraft Launcher
  2. Click on "Installations" tab
  3. Create a new installation or edit an existing one
  4. Select version 1.20 (or the latest version)
  5. Save and launch the game with this version

If you're already using the correct version and still see this error, it might be because our server is undergoing maintenance or an update. Check our Discord server for announcements about maintenance periods.

How do I link my Discord account to my Minecraft account?

  5. Our bot will confirm the link and assign appropriate roles

If you ever need to unlink your accounts or link to a different Discord account, use /discord unlink in-game and repeat the process.
